"La Cortina" Campaign

Faces Unveiled

At CAN PEP REY, our ethos extends beyond our apparel line; we embrace a philosophy of slow living, weaving it seamlessly into our collections and campaigns.

As we reflect on our Spring/Summer 2024 Campaign, we are privileged to sit down with the faces that brought our vision to life, delving into their perspectives on life. Through candid conversations and heartfelt reflections, join us as we uncover the stories behind the scenes and the essence of 'La Cortina' – the curtain that unveils the beauty of simplicity and grace.

SARON ARREDONDO

CAN PEP REY advocates for the concept of slow living across all facets of life. How do you interpret and incorporate this principle into your life and work?

The slow living philosophy promoted by CAN PEP REY deeply resonates with me, as it mirrors my lifestyle and values. To me, incorporating this principle into my day-to-day life and work means more than just adopting a leisurely pace; it is about embracing sustainability, connecting with nature, and seeking quality and comfort in everything around me. As a role model, I value staying informed about trends without compromising my well-being, enjoying authentic moments with loved ones away from the hustle and bustle, in an atmosphere of serenity and freshness. That's why any garment that combines comfort and craftsmanship has a special place in my wardrobe.

Do you have a favourite song? Is there a story behind it that you'd like to share?

Among all the songs I appreciate, there is one in particular that holds a special place in my heart: "Palmar" by the group Caloncho. This song captivates me not only with its melody but also evokes memories from an unforgettable summer. Every time I listen to it, it takes me back to those moments filled with joy and nostalgia.

Since you were part of our photo shoot campaign set in Ibiza's natural surroundings, could you share which element of nature resonates most with you?

Participating in the photo campaign for CAN PEP REY in Ibiza allowed me to further connect with the natural beauty that surrounds us. One element that deeply resonated with me was the water of the Mediterranean Sea and its changing shades under the gentle sea breeze. These elements merged to create a unique and unforgettable atmosphere that remains etched in my memory.

We named our collection 'La Cortina'—how do you interpret this concept metaphorically?

The name of the collection "La Cortina" captivates me with its metaphorical richness. To me, "CORTINA" represents much more than just a simple word: it encapsulates the freshness of a summer breeze, the interplay of light and shadow entering through an open window, and the perfect blend of calmness and peace experienced in a special place. It is a name that evokes subtle yet powerful sensations and emotions, perfectly reflecting the unique spirit of this collection.

If you were to choose one piece from this collection, which would be your favorite?

If I had to highlight a piece from the CAN PEP REY collection as my favorite, I would undoubtedly choose the "cortina" dress. The details of this garment transport me to cherished memories: the exquisite fabrics remind me of vintage accessories from my parents' house and the handmade garments by my grandmother when I was a child living in the Colombian Caribbean. It is a piece that embodies not only elegance and style but also holds deep emotional significance for me.

MARIA KILINA

CAN PEP REY advocates for the concept of slow living across all facets of life. How do you interpret and incorporate this principle into your life and work?

I like this question. Slowing down takes real courage, doesn't it? Exposing detailed images of reality, qualities, and imperfections of things. In my work as a yoga teacher, I'm learning how to give every movement the time to properly develop and open its deep meaning. Simplicity can be so beautiful and yet so challenging :)

Do you have a favourite song? Is there a story behind it that you'd like to share?

For this one I struggle, to many nice songs :) why don’t we put the Khruangbin album and imagine a perfect sunset.

Since you were part of our photo shoot campaign set in Ibiza's natural surroundings, could you share which element of nature resonates most with you?

Earth is probably the one. I do feel drawn to water, but earth gives me confidence. I’m inspired by rocks these days.

We named our collection 'La Cortina'—how do you interpret this concept metaphorically?

A layer that provides transparency, confirming the presence of more layers, creating depth.

If you were to choose one piece from this collection, which would be your favorite?

I think that will be "Elena" jumpsuit in earthy brown shade. I’d love to feel that breezy sensation it gives, when it gets warm.

IMKE LIGTHART

CAN PEP REY advocates for the concept of slow living across all facets of life. How do you interpret and incorporate this principle into your life and work?

As I live in Ibiza it’s quite easy to incorporate the slow living style! I live a lot by day and not much with a tight agenda. As I’m a freelancer, I go with the flow and don’t restrict myself to tight work hours. I enjoy nature, drinking coffee, chill at the beach with friends etc. I think slow living is a part of my life. It does not mean I don’t do anything! I have a lot of energy and like to work. But there is less high pressure I feel..

Do you have a favourite song? Is there a story behind it that you'd like to share?

Lazy calm - Cocteau Twins. Haha how suitable is this title, but that’s pure coincidence. Many years ago I discovered this artist through an ex boyfriend who is into music and it remained my favourite since. I took maybe 3 times of listening before it really touched me but the love for the whole album kept growing. I listen it mostly while travelling or to relax myself :) it’s pure beauty!!

Since you were part of our photo shoot campaign set in Ibiza's natural surroundings, could you share which element of nature resonates most with you?

Difficult to choose one element!

So I pick 3: Mountains, rivers and lakes, flowers.

We named our collection 'La Cortina'—how do you interpret this concept metaphorically?

I think of a stage. Open the curtains and let the show begin.

If you were to choose one piece from this collection, which would be your favorite?

Difficult question because I like all !! Always a fan of the "Andrea" pants and the sweatshirts but I also really love. The "Cortina" dress that stands out this time. I love the "Anou" dress and the Wrapped Skirt ''Gia'' I also love. Actually I also love all T-shirts. And the jumpsuits. Can’t choose to be honest...

AGUSTINA BASALDUA

CAN PEP REY advocates for the concept of slow living across all facets of life. How do you interpret and incorporate this principle into your life and work?

I left the city some years ago already, to be able to live slower, more connected with nature, observing its pace. At first onboard a sailboat, traveling, and now on land in Ibiza. The concept of slow living for me is to be able to listen and respect our body's pace and our feelings, connected with the rhythm of nature

Do you have a favourite song? Is there a story behind it that you'd like to share?

If I'd had to choose a song, I'd say "Todo Cambia" (everything changes) by Mercedes Sosa. An Argentinian singer that reaches directly into your heart. That song describes something we all go through inevitably; change.

Since you were part of our photo shoot campaign set in Ibiza's natural surroundings, could you share which element of nature resonates most with you?

Nature resonates with me, but there's something I love about Ibiza. The combination of sea and mountain. So a bit of both.

We named our collection 'La Cortina'—how do you interpret this concept metaphorically?

"La cortina" for me represents the veil, that we all carry in front of us because we only see the reality through our perspective.

If you were to choose one piece from this collection, which would be your favorite?

I love the whole collection, the quality of the fabrics, and the comfort of the garments. But above all the fact that every piece can be worn at any time of the day and occasion and for many years.
