What is an optimist, and why we should all know how to sail?
1. Optimist - boat for kids to learn sailing. basic functions, light, easy to maneuvre
2. Optimist - mental state that allows for a positive outlook in the future, accelerates and promotes the creation of ideas and solutions.
We propose a radically optimistic approach to our current socio-political climate. We ask to return to hope, love & patience. We demand a return to dialogue and distancing from oppression and the global arms race.
We propose that through a new found optimism we can find the proper solutions for our problems. Rather than fo- cusing on problems we want to focus on solutions.
We are aware that the radical optimist can be a caracter that can easily be mocked and that it is a hard position to hold in todays time. Optimists do not shut their eyes from the issues of our time.
With this exibition we aimed to create a dialogue between current critique and abstract painting as a window to op- timism. With the literal optimist crowning the exhibition as a first prototype of our upcoming exhibition.
For this first exhibition we present a dialogue between Ibiza - based abstract painter Marón and L.L. Idarnoc.
